Xi is probably the silliest place to live at MIT, but there are just a few things we take seriously:
We support each other’s academic success
MIT gives us an opportunity to learn amazing things and to study alongside incredible people. Making the most of it requires deep support and connection. Xi is full of people who not only help each other through academic rigors, but inspire each other to reach new heights.
We engage as members of a strong community
Xi is more than just a place to live — it is a Home. We study together, eat together, play together, and work together both inside and outside of the house. We build ties that sustain us during our time at MIT and last for the rest of our lives. We become a part of a tradition that has already passed its centennial mark.
We improve Xi through service and leadership
The residents of Xi are not just renters — we are the landlords, housekeepers, chefs, planners, stewards, wardens, and more. There are many jobs to do, and we step up to do them all. This strengthens bonds and builds us into mature adults, ready for the world.
We try new things
True creativity goes against convention. At Xi, we make a wide space to be unconventional. This is a place to experiment, learn, introspect, and grow as individuals. We are open-minded and excited to share in all of the things we learn about ourselves along the way.
We help each other reach our dreams
We don’t have a formula for the “right” way to succeed at MIT. Each person has their own view of what they want to do and become. At Xi, we respect and support the passions and dreams of our fellows (as long as their dreams don’t involve burning the house down).
